Discovery Bay is truly a great place to Live, Work, and, of course, Play! Recently recognized as one of the top places to live and raise a family in the Bay Area, it comes as no surprise to me. Our Delta hamlet has so much to offer; from golf, aquatic activities, youth sports and community based events, that there is always something for everyone. Blessed with an excellent school system and with neighborhoods crossing the economic spectrum – from condos to mansions, from brand new construction to older homes on the water and golf course, there is likely a home that fits your needs.
While many residents live and work locally, a large number commute to some of the larger Bay Area employment centers. When you come home, we want you to feel relaxed when you enter your neighborhood and turn into your driveway.
Our town is strong. Our organization is innovative. In 2014, the Town was recognized as a California District of Distinction. This highly coveted recognition is not easy to come by, and less than 30 of the over 2,400 special districts statewide have received this prestigious designation.
The Board of Directors are a diverse, yet cohesive group, just like our community. Our staff is innovative, creative and committed to mission of the District. We share varying backgrounds, experiences and personalities. Our business is conducted in real time, before the people, and that’s a good thing. The Town was awarded a Certificate in Excellence for Transparency in 2014 and renewed in 2016. We intend to retain and improve on that excellence while we resubmit our application for future renewals.
For businesses, for residents, for veterans, and the Delta, we are working to build a more sustainable Delta community, improving our quality of life, while continuing to preserve property values.
With the challenges of today’s economy, we are having to become increasingly creative to improve our services and maintain our quality of life. We maintain fiscal discipline to preserve our valuable community assets.
We seek out best practices to keep our water and sewer rates affordable for all residents. Additionally, as a responsible agency, we are planning for future expansions while ensuring that drinking water quality is protected and sewage treatment is handled appropriately and within state mandated guidelines.
We continue to professionally maintain our landscaping to enhance our community while protecting property values. As we expand the quantity and quality of our parks, care must be taken to keep them in top shape.
While all of the above requires funding, we have the resources to get the job done. Proper prioritization of our dollars along with a real effort to bring the whole community together is what we’re committed to for the community.
Working together we can improve the quality of life in Discovery Bay and the greater Delta region.
